FAQ
Most questions and answers about the new computer system KOHA!
This is the most exciting part of the new system! You now have a universal card, which offers fantastic benefits. You can borrow books from multiple local libraries, including Abilene Public Library, Chapman Public Library, and Council Grove Public Library, all with the same card. Additionally, you can return books at any of these libraries, and they will automatically be sent back to the owning library.
You also have the flexibility to pick up any holds at any library. For instance, if you live in Herington but work in Marion, you can choose the location that’s most convenient for you. When searching for items, you’ll be able to see what’s available at all local libraries and beyond. If you reserve something that isn’t available at our library, it will be shipped to your preferred pick-up location!
Yes, but we can look up your past number! Your new number is fourteen digits….2744900000XXXX – the X’s represent your previous card number. Add zeroes if your card number is less than four or five digits!
Great question! Please update any saved links to https://nckls.bywatersolutions.com/. When you get to the website, use your new fourteen-digit number. Your password is the last four digits of your phone number we have on file. If you cannot log in, please contact us and we will assist!
Yes! There is no interruption of service with Libby. Your “old” number should still be valid.
If you are a new user, you will have to input your fourteen-digit number. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have problems!
Just know that if you have an overdue item at the library, Libby won’t let you login.
Yes! We would be happy to order them for you. It is a different process, but we are happy to help you out. Please contact the library at 785-258-2011 for more information.
A “hold” takes the place of many previous interlibrary loan requests. Because you now have a universal card, you can…
- Check out a book at multiple local libraries, like Chapman Public Library, Maron City Library, and Herington Public Library — and use the same card!
- Return books at any of those libraries and they will automatically be shipped back to the owning library — so no more worries about what book goes where.
- Choose to pick up any holds at any library! So, if you live in Herington but you work in Marion, select the most convenient location to pick up your items!
- Search the catalog, and it will show you the items available at any of the local libraries (and more). Put it on reserve, and if it is not available at our library, it will automatically be shipped to your preferred pick up location!
- Have access to multiple libraries’ worth of items — so holds will come quicker to you at your preferred library.
Don’t worry — we are happy to work with you however it works best for you. Thank you for your patience!
